The Bourbon (planifolia) and Tahitian variety vanilla beans offered on our site are organically grown and PURE AND NATURAL.  Our supplier and his family have been in the vanilla business since 1921 and purchase direct from growers eliminating the usual market conditions and we can offer you quality Bourbon and Tahitian vanilla beans at the fairest prices.  Bourbon beans are long and slender, with a very rich taste and smell, have thick, oily skin, contain an abundance of tiny seeds, and have a strong vanilla aroma. Bourbon beans are described as having a creamy, hay like, and sweet, with vanillin overtones.   Tahitian beans are usually shorter, plumper, and contain a higher oil and water content than Bourbon beans. The skin is thinner, they contain fewer seeds, and the aroma is fruity and floral. They are often described as smelling like licorice, cherry, prunes, or wine.

One "key" to whatever you are going to use the vanilla for is the percentage of vanillin content in the beans. A premium grade such as ours is always in excess of 2 % while many others offering vanilla are less than 2%. The vanilla content affects the "flavor" of the application you are going to use such as baking, vanilla sugar, extract, ice cream etc....

No water moisture only oil moisture so there are a great value. These beans  are fully mature on the vine and never cut before they turn yellow at the tip. Sun cured and aged in boxes for three months. There are 75 m/t of these available in the California warehouse.

    Bourbon Planifolia Grade B Vanilla Beans !

What are these for?  Great for making your own extract, use in crafts such as making candles, put a couple in a jar of sugar for vanilla flavored sugar, candles, soap, ....  you can probably think of other ideas !   They are "irregular"  not split or perhaps better stated "not uniform" and length will vary from  4 to 6 inches.  They are not discolored or malformed and have they same great flavor and aroma of the "quality" vanilla beans and some may even be satisfactory for baking.  There are approximately 200 to 300 beans per pound.
We are offering these for ONLY  $ 29.00 per pound  On an average that's about .11 cents per bean !  ..............or   1/2 pound for $ 18.00. 

How long can these beans last since there are so many?  

All you need to do it place them in an air tight container maybe wrapped in wax paper and store them in a cool place. That's it and they will last for 12 months or longer.  Do not vacuum seal as the moisture content of the beans after a long period of time may cause mold. Do not freeze or refrigerate !

Vanilla Beans should never be refrigerated because they may develop mold when chilled. They should be kept in an air-tight container at room temperature. Try placing one bean in your sugar jar the bean will flavor the sugar within a week or two. Try stirring your coffee with a vanilla bean !
